Morning Toddler Support Aide (year-round part-time, 28.75 hours/week)

Durham, NC

Hours:  7:30 a.m. - 1:15 p.m. daily Monday - Friday
12-month position
Salary = $19.00/hour ($20.00/hour if Montessori credentialed)

The Morning Toddler Team Aide supports the Toddler Teaching Teams by providing continuity of care to the children in all three MSD Toddler classrooms. To do this, the Team Aide will build a relationship with each child and their family, and learn the expectations of the Lead Teachers in each classroom. When a Lead or Assistant Teacher needs to be out of the classroom, the Aide will be available to step in as a substitute and ensure the classroom operates with minimal disruption to schedule, program objectives, or the comfort of the children.

When the Team Aide is not required to be in ratio in any of the Toddler classrooms, they may work under a Lead Teacher’s direction to supervise a small group activity or support a child with one-on-one attention. They may also take on other duties such as preparing materials, setting up activities, processing laundry and dishes, or general cleaning and organizing in the Toddler House. Occasionally, the Team Aide may be asked to assist other programs on the MSD campus.

With support from the Teaching Team, the Team Aide will refine their observation skills and learn to anticipate when they will be needed to offer support in the classroom or when they should step back and wait for instruction.

The Toddler Team Aide is an academic-year position with optional summer employment. The Morning Toddler Team Aide is expected to be on campus at 7:30 am to welcome children for Before School Care. From 12:00 to 1:15 pm, they will assist with lunch and naps in the All Day Toddler classes and provide coverage for the Toddler Team to attend Wednesday meetings.

The Team Aide’s duties should be completed by 1:15 each day, although they may occasionally be expected to spend additional time on campus for meetings and training.
